Owen is self-taught and paints in acrylic which exemplifies the traditional Australian style. This is accentuated by a unique fullness and vitality demonstrated in the careful crafting of colour and form. Having now produced a certain body of work, Owen finds his work is gaining increasing recognition.
He has been painting for 25 years and particularly enjoys capturing on canvas the wildlife of the Atherton Tablelands, a fertile plateau in Queensland’s Great Dividing Range. The Tableland includes rain forest, savannah and wetlands, and so furnishes welcoming habitats to a huge array of species. Owen also produces an abundance of other wildlife pieces. His paintings now hang in homes across the country. Owen spent time as Artist-in–Residence at the Chalet Rainforest Gallery in Yungaburra.
