Owen Pointon’s art showcases Australia’s amazing Atherton Tableland, a fertile plateau in Queensland’s Great Dividing Range. The Tableland includes rain forest, savannah, and wetlands and so furnishes welcoming habitats to a huge array of species. Owen produces an abundance of other wildlife pieces.
Owen is self-taught and paints in acrylic which exemplifies the traditional Australian style. This is accentuated by a unique fullness and vitality demonstrated in the careful crafting of colour and form. Having now produced a certain body of work, Owen finds his work is gaining increasing recognition.
He has been painting for 25 years and particularly enjoys capturing on canvas the wildlife of the Atherton Tablelands. His paintings now hang in homes across the country. Owen is currently Artist-in–Residence at the Chalet Rainforest Gallery in Yungaburra.
